Designed, Sized and Installed by the Same Crew
Most heating contractors will happily swap a commercial boiler for the one that was there before. That is not the same as designing a system. A replacement matched to the old nameplate inherits every mistake the last installer made — an oversized plant that short-cycles itself to death, a loop that cannot move the water the boiler is producing, pumps chosen off a shelf instead of a head calculation.
Rhino Plumbing does the engineering first. We run the heat loss on the actual building, size the plant to the load, lay out primary and secondary piping, select pumps against real numbers, and specify the controls and staging. Then we install what we designed. When the same crew owns the drawing and the wrench, there is nobody to point at when the building is cold — and in practice, there is nothing to point at.
Hydronic system design
New build, addition, or a plant that never worked properly: we produce the layout. Heat loss by room, emitter sizing, zone strategy, primary/secondary or variable-primary piping, pump selection, expansion and air management, glycol concentration where freeze protection is needed, and a control sequence that makes the plant modulate instead of hammer. Drawings you can hand to a GC or an inspector.
Boiler installation & replacement
Condensing and non-condensing, single boiler or a staged multi-boiler plant. We handle the gas train, combustion air and venting as licensed gas fitters, so no second trade has to be scheduled to finish the job. Most commercial buildings have redundancy in the plant, which lets us stage a changeover and keep heat on the building while we work — and where a building genuinely cannot stay warm through the swap, we say so at quoting time and plan temporary heat rather than discovering it on the day.
Everything hanging off the loop
A hydronic plant is only as good as what it feeds. We install and service in-floor radiant slabs, hydronic unit heaters for shops and warehouse bays, air handlers and make-up air units, snow-melt systems for entrances and ramps, glycol fill and maintenance, and domestic hot water off an indirect tank. If it is warm and it moves water, it is our work.
Service, retrofit and the gas bill
We service commercial plants regardless of who installed them — annual maintenance, combustion analysis, controls troubleshooting, pump and valve work, and repairs on a priority footing because a cold commercial building becomes a burst-pipe claim fast. If your plant short-cycles, runs hot, or costs more every winter, a look at the staging and controls is worth having before you spend on new equipment. Quite often the fix is not a boiler.
Working on a residential project instead? See residential boilers and hydronic heating. Commercial buildings frequently need a tested backflow assembly on the make-up water line as well — we can handle that on the same visit, see Backflow Testing (EPCOR) — and if you have rooftop equipment, ask about commercial rooftop services.
